ABOUT HYPOTRICHOSIS

Hypotrichosis is a medical condition where the person is unable to grow enough hair on their head and body. It is often present from birth, and in some cases involves the eye lashes. If hypotrichosis is not congenital, it may appear as a by-product of another medical condition, nervous conditions or habits such as wearing too much mascara.

Hypotrichosis shouldn’t be confused with alopecia, which is a condition that causes hair loss. With hypertrichosis, the hair growth never occurred in the first place. In some cases, patients are diagnosed with alopecia when they really have a form of congenital hypotrichosis.

ABOUT LATISSE™

LATISSE™ (bimatoprost ophthalmic solution) 0.03% is a prescription treatment used to grow eyelashes for patients with hypotrichosis. The solution is FDA approved, and is applied to the upper eyelid each night to improve the length, thickness and darkness of eyelashes. If patients discontinue use of LATISSE™, eyelashes gradually lose the positive effects they gained from using the treatment.

LATISSE™ BENEFITS

Treatment with LATISSE™ yields complete results in 16 weeks, but many patients see measurable results in only 8 weeks. The solution works from the inside, increasing the length first, then adding thickness and darkness.
