Dr. John Tybor

Dr. John Tybor

The word “healing” comes from the Latin word “sanitatem” also meaning to cure. My practice philosophy has been rooted in this principal, to heal the patient by curing the root cause of their condition. Many treatments are palliative and offer temporary fixes to an ongoing issue. It is my passion to go above and beyond palliative treatments. Using cutting edge equipment to ensure that my patients are first able to understand their condition, and then receive the best clinical care possible. I strive to be a good listener. By listening, my staff and I try to understand the patients’ immediate concern and form a long-term goal.

I am a third-generation optometrist. My grandfather Eugene Tybor practiced in Houston, Texas. My uncle Dennis Tybor practiced in Fredericksburg, Texas. My father David Tybor started his own practice Oak Hill Eye Care in 1984. Making Oak Hill Eye Care the oldest family owned and operated optometry practices in the greater Austin area. Eye care is in my DNA!

Dr John Tybor has a passion for the treatment and management of dry eye disease. He has trained specially on the newest dry eye treatment techniques, specifically in the use of Intense Pulsated Light (IPL) and radiofrequency for chronic dry eye treatment. His dedication in his treatment of this chronic disease has helped many patients find the relief they have been seeking for years!

I am a proud member of the Fightin’ Texas aggie family, and I received my Doctorate from the University of Houston. I was born in Austin, Texas and love the city that I am from. I am married to the love of my life Courtney who is the best wife and golf caddy ever! We have been married since May 07, 2022 and have two dogs. A bulldog named Nova and a Great Pyrenees rescue named Bailey. Outside of playing golf, I enjoy cooking, smoking barbeque, and watching the Aggies football and basketball teams. I am a parishioner at St. John Neumann Catholic Church.
