Your vision and ocular health are important to us! Our comprehensive examinations allow us to carefully evaluate your visual needs, as well as detect potential eye disorders and diseases. Whether you need further evaluation, medication or prescription lenses, we can address your needs using the latest diagnostic equipment and eye care technology. We are happy to see patients of any age.

We offer the optomap® Retinal Exam as an important part of your eye exam. The optomap® Retinal Exam produces an image that is as unique as your fingerprint and provides Dr. Tybor and Dr. Walsh with a wide view of the retina without pupil dilation. The retina is the part of your eye that captures the image of what you are viewing, similar to film in a camera. Many eye problems can develop without any symptoms or change in vision. Conditions such as macular degeneration, glaucoma, retinal tears or detachments, as well as other health problems including diabetes and high blood pressure can be detected with a thorough examination of the retina.

An optomap® Retinal Exam provides:

  • A wide view and detailed image of the retina.
  • The opportunity for you to view and discuss the image with your doctor at the time of your exam.
  • A permanent record for your file that allows your doctor to view your images each year to detect any changes.
  • A thorough examination without the side-effects of pupil dilation.

The optomap® Retinal Exam is fast, easy, and non-invasive. You simply look into the device one eye at a time and you will see a flash of light when the image of your retina is taken. The optomap® image is immediately available on a computer screen so your doctor can review it with you.

LASIK (Laser in-situ Keratomileusis), the latest advancement in laser vision correction procedures, removes microscopic layers of tissue to change the shape of the cornea and allow light to focus more directly on the retina. Modern Excimer laser technology is effective in correcting nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism.

Through the use of breakthrough technology, it is now possible to treat virtually any refractive condition. Your doctor will work with you to determine the procedure that best suits your individual needs and goals. Learning about your treatment options is the first step towards improved vision. We provide honest pre-procedural evaluations to determine whether or not laser vision correction is the right choice for you. We will work with you to provide careful evaluation and diagnosis, ensure a comfortable setting and provide you with a comrehensive after-care program. We are committed to finding the right answer for each of our patients, even if the answer is not having LASIK.

Most patients who undergo LASIK will be able to pass a driver's license vision test without corrective lenses and many will achieve 20/20 vision. A small percentage of patients may still require corrective lenses for some activites but the vast majority will show greatly improved vision. Most people say they did not feel anything during the procedure and that they could see well the very first day after the procedure. Patients often report improved vision within 24 - 48 hours but it is important to understand that each person heals at a different rate. Vision continues to improve for weeks, even months, after the procedure. LASIK has freed thousands of Central Texans from the hassles and restrictions of glasses and contact lenses, enabling them to lead fuller, more productive and confident lives.

We are able to detect, monitor and treat many eye diseases such as glaucoma, macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy, as well as conditions such as cataracts. This may include additional testing, most of which can be done in-office because we have the most advanced equipment available. Treatment may also involve prescribing medications, making surgical arangements, providing pre-operative and post-operative care and co-managing with other physicans.

People who experience vision loss due to injuries or advanced eye disease may need special types of products to help them with certain activities. These products range from a simple hand magnifier to a closed-circuit television system. We can direct those who need low vision assistance to products that will help them carry out necessary day-to-day tasks.

There is more to vision than seeing 20/20. It includes the complex neurological processes that allow the brain to interpret and utilize visual information. For many people, reading and tasks requiring hand-eye coordination can be very difficult. Because vision plays a critical role in learning and development, it is important to recognize and address these issues as early as possible. Our examinations allow us to detect and diagnose problems such as amblyopia (also known as "lazy eye"), strabismus, convergence insufficiency, binocularity problems and focusing difficulties. Treatment of these conditions often includes corrective lenses, changes in visual habits and vision therapy. In some cases, we may refer patients to a physician who specializes in helping people with these needs.
